Sundrops
I had this little thought today That made me think it was okay To tell you that you couldn't stay And let your beauty slip away; But I realized about mid-day That all the sundrops golden rays Couldn't beat the simple way Your eyes lit up my soul today. I had this ditty in my head Repeating all the words I said; All the lies I unconsciously fed So I could get home to my bed, But I lay awake all night instead Because I couldn't live with what I said, And I hoped you'd forgive and not abed The rage that must be in your head. So I lay awake with naught to do But ponder all the things I do That make me unworthy of you Yet you pay no attention to. Then I had this little thought and knew That natural law is defied in you And after all, I know it's true That, baby, I'm in love with you.
