Sunset Moon
he gets up from the kitchen table rising slowly, painfully aware of winter now in his soul, fires dimming, eyes wide brimming remembering, how they used to be when she, his wife the love of his hard and uneventful life would cook and clean. how she loved her man now, all alone and left struggling to fill the remainder of his lonesome days she was such a beautiful woman kind and sweet, always caring so soft and demure, full of passion and smiles why'd she have to leave so soon? it seemed like only yesterday they exchanged their vows under the sunset moon sometimes, late at night when all is quiet and the day is done he hears her ask, 'are you hungry, dear?' 'can I fix you a bite to eat?' and for a brief moment all is well, he turns to answer as he always did 'anything, sweets' then all too soon becomes aware, it was just the wind there's no one there he gets up slowly...
