Some people are born for the spotlight 
They will take center stage 
And bask in the glory of a successful performance 
But not me 
 
I am a supporting character 
I am behind more things than you will ever know 
Even though you never see my face 
I set the scene, and provide the background 
That allows the star to settle into character 
 
I am the muse that whispers into their ear 
Words that are not heard 
But remembered when the decision needs to be made 
 
I will never be the star 
No one pines for my hand 
My name will never be screamed by the crowd 
But I do make a difference 
Oh yes. 
And at the end of the cosmic day 
When my energy drifts off to the depths of space 
I will be content with my efforts
