Sweet Addiction

I had one final taste last night I disposed the final crumbs and turned off the light As I slept the final traces of sweet escaped me Although the addiction did not flee Will I make it through this day with no sweet indulgance? Or will I dance with the cupcake again? I have no choice those cupcakes can't reach my lips any longer The time has come to free myself of the compulsion for that sweet cane In the end my body will be stronger Stronger than it's ever been My frail attempts will blow away with the wind I will be alive again Once that needle punctures my skin I'll remember where I was That first step I took way back then... in spite When I disposed the final crumbs and turned off the light

I came across this site recently because a very talented young man allowed me a great privilege and that was to read his poetry. Through him I am learning more and more about poetry and I find it to be fascinating, more importantly he has resurrected...
