Take The Time
Take the Time I stand… Stoicallyand with solemnity, Perplexed at the alluring prarie which callsout to me so silently With it’s resounding resources. Showcasing its’ glorious grace. Strong with senses. I stare… So boldly at the beautiful, barren desert, dawdling dreamily Unseen by so many As they hurry on on their way... Time is the travelers master; and They cannot waste it on a prairie. I see… New sagebrush as it slowly surges forth with strength. Emerald grasses for grazing goats. The few trees teasedby the breeze... With arms raised in peace to the Heavens. I feel… The soft wind caress my being Trying to peek under my skirt And then run away like a schoolboy. The dust devils spray sand in circles; it burns my face like a million shards of crystal. I hear; Wings of vultures, vying for a Scrap of something, screeching... At all others to stay away from the prize that is theirs. Songbirds sublime tunes Make me close my eyes. I taste… The salts and spices Floating by on the weary wind Making me hungry somehow Sending me sincere signals That it is time to return home. But not before … I smell… The pungentaroma of the sagebrush crushed beneath my feet. Wild roses in bloom Sending soft, subtle scents of sweetness washingover me. IlaMae Stucki © 4/8/2009

I am a Registered Nurse.. I have loved writing for as far back as I can remember. My first writing was experienced by drawing as a child. In 7th grade I wrote a poem about Abraham Lincoln that won an award and was read on the radio in Salt Lake City....
