The Addict

·Rob Adelaide

He watches me, my personal mentor His words of encouragement received Should I challenge his wisdom and logic? No, I’m very happy to be deceived! His voice whispers kindly “enjoy yourself” And it comes with an approving smile I accept the hospitality willingly And tell myself it’s been a while When I say a while, I mean about a day But that’s a long time for someone like me My monsters powerful and needs feeding No escape as it lives internally “Be strong and fight back” my Angel’s screaming She has been here so many times before But her words demand effort and action These possessions I lost and have no more You see, I stopped fighting long ago When I realised that I had no control How bright the light can shine through space and time But devoured by the mighty black hole
