The Apology

How do you apologize, when you look into their eyes, and see the horror they went through, as it's reflected back to you? At the government's behest, you snatched their infants from the breast. You separated young from old, causing grief and pain untold. Your lack of care and assistance, kept these people at a distance. They turned to drugs and alcohol, some would even sell their soul. Their forcible assimillation, caused a "Stolen Generation". It will be hard to reconcile, to heal these wounds will take some while. By apologizing to their face, You've owned up to a great disgrace.
