The Climb
Life's like climbing a hill, Every second a breath fought for Every step a battle of will Every inch an impossible gradient It will be wet, You'll get drenched. It will be hot, You'll get scorched. It will snow, You'll get frozen. Sometimes the climb is pleasant Seldom for long, But you must keep on, Keeping that summit in view, Fighting pain, Ignoring fatigue, Battling the elements, To achieve that goal, To overcome your adversities, And be triumphant. Then at your journey's end, When you have reached your peak You stand victorious, Forget all the struggles All the heart aches All those times you thought of quitting All the tears spilled, You simply stand transfixed Awestruck by beauty, Surrounded by the world below you. Then all you can see are faces, Those of people you've met along the way, You reflect on The laughter, The smiles, The comradery, The small victories you've won. And you smile in remembrance, Sit and wait awhile for the next step.
