The Crush: A Letter To A Friend

09 Oct 2008

·Gilly?

You see, I spy for a living, And my specialty is revenge, It’s best cooked up slow, unforgiving and brutal, You told me a picture paints a thousand words, Look at my face? Does it look amused? I reap pity on you; I remember when we use to be friends, Back in the day we used to run and play, Terrorise the neighbourhood, be all giddy and gay, Now you’ve got me rhyming, Spitting verses like I never have before, It’s strange what a circumstance can change; please “my friend” no more. Once you told me, “truth, no mates,” It made sense, and against your own whispered words You cross me and the truth is, truth no mates. A liar is what you are, and you can’t be forgiven, It’s too late now and I’m trying to act like I don’t care But the truth is, I’m smitten, I’m as smitten as smitten can be. And the sooner you realise this then we can work past it. It was once told that it’s dense to fall for a friend, We could work past this, and stay together until the end, I want to take you into my own little world, You are my world, Love for a friend? Daft isn’t it. From being best friends to growing up And not being able to have everything that you want. In the movies the guy always gets the girl, I’m in a horror flick and there’s a darkness creeping up on me, Its jealousy, it’s taking the form of a serial killer, Now I’m just waiting to be “offed” at the next big moment, Gruesomely with heart still intact, It will always beat for you, no matter what happens, I will always be your friend, until the very last day, It’s not your fault that you’re not in the same place. It doesn’t really matter, my love for you will die in my someday.
