The darker ages
We lost a precious friend last night, One who'd brought us pity, reason and light, Whose excess at times caused us to meet, In all arenas a resounding defeat, Yet gave us the leverage we needed to, Frown upon that which the dastardly do, And though you begged and pleaded us to, See our imperfect world the same way you do, Your words were no match for our irksome green cravings, And your endangerment received only a limited response, And contrary to what you may think, Your legacy has not been erased, Your values dictate still a few minds of our realm, But will never hold as much power again, For we have entered a darker age
