The Door Slammed
The door slammed violently behind him It echoed the volatile state of our affairs I glanced out the window to see him Then slumped myself back on the chair If I sit quietly I can still recall laughter I feel his warm touch on my face Our two lives were combined, I wish I could hit rewind But instead have found myself replaced Their late night phone calls and endless meetings Supposedly secret but I’ve known for a while These rendezvous I know have happened When he returns home with a satisfied smile I can bet money he wont be smiling though Next time he tries to waltz through the door For the locks have been replaced, that smile will be erased I’m not putting up with this anymore
