THE EROTIC MEDUSA

The Erotic Medusa * She cast her eyes downward framed with her perfectly sculpted brows all done up for Hollywood. * As she removed her earrings, they clanked as they hit the glass on her dressing table. * As she ran a brush through her shining platinum locks, they caught the light like the rippling water at sunset. * She studied her reflection in the mirror. She realized she both admired her beauty and loathed it at the same time. * It was a beauty that had not only brought her fame, But also despair and loneliness. * She wondered why a person so needy, could move the people she loved most dearly so very far away from her? * Sexy - that word and her very name would become synonymous. How ironic that she rendered every man impotent like an erotic Medusa through the simple act of their own insecurities when they gazed upon her. * She wondered what it would have been like if she had remained just a housewife married to a man at a local aerospace plant. * She hung her head and cried softly to herself as She gazed once more at herself in the mirror. * She watched as her tears dripped down off her face like a waning candle, melting in to her perfect pan-cake complexion. * She hurried to freshen it up, for the flashbulbs, photographers and reporters would be waiting for her outside to destroy her perfect silence soon enough as she emptied another bottle of Vodka. * WordPlaya, June 2009

I enjoy writing and since rediscovering the power of poetry, it has brought me much joy! My favorite poet is Richard Brautigan, and I am a big fan of freestyle poetry, as I find it less limiting and most creative. I also like spoken word poetry. ...
