THE ETERNAL SPIRIT From that final breath Into seeminglyeternal slumber Shedding the leaden confines of body Pain, Anxiety, Hardship, FEAR Evaporate Energies reawaken And Spirit soars As the Candle's light tapers - a gradual demise Another flickers in creation Thespark,so wondrous Divinely bright, all encompassing This flame of spirit thirsts not for air Complete and never extinguished The light prevails A tapestry of memories intact Now incarnate with reason and meaning Withclarity in life's teachings At peace, respite from one long endeavour As Adam lay his head to rest On that first enchanted eve He knew of no tomorrows Yet as Tomorrow envelops Yesterday Unborn in perception Scars of wisdom decorate the soul Enlightening future steps There is no end; barely a beginning Through each wax and wane of symbolic journeys The Divine Spirit lives on Liz x NB: For reading aloud to an audience, s3 l6 will be changed to 'On that first enchanted night' Suggestions would be much appreciated!
