The Final Journey

Saddled on this unstoppable journey I cry to myself quietly The sun will set here soon And like an ending western Into it I shall ride There is no solitude in being The last person to leave There is just a lingering Of those that once were apart of me Solitude they say is by himself Yet there is no self to be by The last seconds leave the hand, And the world blurs into obscurity I never pictured it to be this way All I can pray for is a new beginning Another one A place where all is the way I dreamed it would be The way I saw the world as a child With wooden soldiers, that never bled And cars that never crashed And parents that never left And summers that never cooled Ice cream that never melted These were my dreams And I never thought to dream, that I would fall on this red dry earth with a hhish risen sun and a dusty wind I never thought to dream, That one day, One day; I didn’t have to die alone.
