The Game of Love

How do you stand to watch the sight, Oflife on path for self-destruction, A heart that once had sparkled bright, Lies victim to a blank seduction, Rejection, loss, andmental strain, Show just beneath her dimming eyes, Her heart grows hardened by the pain, Resulting from so many lies, She spends her days in search thereof, That thing she had that he has taken, A victim of deceitful love, For which she knows she was mistaken, Her innocence she’d lose to lust, That much she knows could not be clearer, But still she feels a deep disgust, With every glance into a mirror, She hates herself for what transpired, Upon the dark and dreary night, Her body which he long desired, She gave to him without a fight, And now she loathes her very flesh, That brought false love and tempted sin, Her anger and emotions mesh, As razors dance across her skin, Endorphins surge throughout her veins, A cleansing rush straight to her head, Despite the oft inflicted pains, She feels more pure for having bled, This habit she would long persist, Her secret therapy she’d keep, Until that night upon her wrist, The razor blade would slice too deep.
