The Ganges (A Garland Cinquain) the river attracts boatmen kingfisher lover’s songs aloofness of bereaved cry Ma Ganga she calls supports at birth in our daily livelihood carry our ashes to destiny eternity her banks are the cradle of civilization fountain of joy inspiration milking cow water crystal-clear sacred harbors unity and harmony even the tide-pulling moon mirrors face play ground of childhood days Vrindavan of by-gone youth Banaras in ripe sick old age my refuge the river supports at birth of civilization harbors unity and harmony my refuge --------------- Note:A cinquain poem has five lines.The best known form of cinquain are based on syllables and have the following pattern: line1--2 syllable line--2--4 syllables line--3--6 syllables line--4--8 --syllables line--5--2 syllables A Garland Cinquain is a sequence of six cinquain in which the the final cinquain is composed of lines from the previous five L1 from S1 , L2 from S2 , L3 from S3 so on and so forth.
