The Jade-Eyed Falcon

The Jade-Eyed Falcon I have neither seen a falcon nor felt the wind there, away from all choices was I, for one does not ponder or suffer like humans there, instead one finds that which is truly pleasurable, those calm thoughts which one presses. From under my quilt I have seen though, a falcon, because in one of my dreams one finds the mystery of birds, bloodied hope. For when I was still backward in thought, I used to guess sometimes on unneeded objects, and these like morning dew are spread early in your home and for them to leave you'd have to go through tales of black hearts, while trapping for a fictional falcon. If in one of my dreams I saw an angel that was smaller than a falcon, it is not a fantasy, for in time past birds were kings. When the woman sings do not lend your ear, besides she never praised your interest in trapping; perhaps because she is not intimate with it? I doubt it though that this other kind, of mystical qualities, should fall in the mud of hope or even interest herself in such things. So I have heard voices from above the precipice of the cliff that I am the god of thought, it was true, true as a falcon is. And if in the cruel night you do not stop trapping your own grave and keep on carving the bloodied flowers of your isle you shall lead yourself to death; and which is your isle oh noble man, if not that of your mother who beautifies, if not the that of the white lily, or the pottery of your forefathers; and I tell you that you shall be the mystery of the era. But I, what shall I be? So much thought sickens though, and in it I've only found trouble till now, and no woman has caressed me from it. Perhaps that is because I've never show her, her, that I am the god of thought, and as majestic as birds, as majestic as the falcon. English Version Il-Falkun t'Għajnejn Ħodor u Kristalli La rajt falkun u lanqas ma ħassejt ir-riħ l'hemmek, li l'hinn minn kull għażla kont, għaliex hemmek m'hemmx tbatija jew inkwiet uman, iżda wieħed isib illi dak li hu verament ta' pjaċir, huwa li ssostni fuq ruħek il-ħsibijiet kawti. Jiena rajt minn taħt il-kutra tiegħi pero`, falkun, għaliex f'ħolma minnhom issib is-seħer tat-tajr u l-fidwa mdemma. Għax meta kont għadni lura fi ħsibieti, kont nobsor kull tant fuq affarijiet ta' bla bżonn, u dawn bħan-nida ta' filgħodu jitkarkru kmieni f'darek u biex jitilqu tkun trid tgħaddi ġo ġrajjiet ta' qlub sewda, filwaqt li tonsob għal falkun li ma jeżistix. Jekk f'ħolma minnhom rajt l-anġlu iżgħar mill-falkun m'hija fantażija xejn, għaliex fl-imgħoddi t-tajr kien r-re`. Meta l-mara tkanta la tgħatihiex widen, fuq kollox hi la qatt faħritlek l-interess tiegħek ta' l-insib; forsi għaliex hi midħla wkoll? Niddubita pero` li xbieha ta' tip ta' seħer ieħor kellha taqa' f'dan it-tajn tat-tama, jew inkella li tinteressa ruħha fih. Mela jien meta smajt ilħna jgħajduli minn fuq il-preċipiss ta' l-irdum li jien alla tal-ħsieb, kien veru, daqs il-falkun. U inti jekk mal-lejl kiefer tibqa' tonsob qabrek u tibqa tnaqqax fuq il-fjur mdemmem ta' gżirtek inti twassal għall- mewt; u liem hi gżirtek ja raġel nobbli, jekk m'hux ommok li tħaddar, jekk m'hux il-qronfla l-bajda, jew il-fuħħar ta' missirijietek; u jiena ingħid illi għad tkun il-misteru` ta' l-era`. Imma jien, x'se nkun? Tant ħsieb jmarrad pero`, u fih sibt s'issa l-gwaj kollu, u l-ebda mara ma farġitni minnhu. Forsi dan għaliex jien qatt ma wrejta, lilha, illi jien alla tal-ħsieb, u hekk majestuż daqs it-tajr, daqs dak il-falkun. Maltese Version
