The Lady Lies

·Ruby

In one poise she holds steady her hand In one voice she bleats only an echo In one gaze she casts the world In one day she waits a year Suns lap at her satin skin One life of knowing only others sins She stands alone in waters deep Waking alone and caressing sleep All that she sees in one look Enough to fill a thousand books In one breath she lives on Wading in the waters depth It shallows for a little while She can see clearly now The water envelopes her scaly skin Green with envy and sick with sin She knows no more truth inside Only blindness that’s falsified Naked she stands alone Naked fears wrapped in fur As darkness falls upon each day The spectators look the other way In one breath she feels again In one laugh she understands In one time that someone looks She sees the end of the story book
