The Last Farewell

Days upon days Watching and waiting Tears welling in our souls Holding every last moment Clutched to our hearts Knowing our fated end. Desperate for your embrace I ran to you a frightened child But knew that your comfort Would eventually be my pain. I hold you in the daylight now Your image imprinted And sustained in my sight As today I will touch you Just one last time, And this goodbye Is all goodbyes before That never stood for truth But were deceiving For to us, then, goodbye Was just a name for hurt Today it is a name for Forever.
