The Last Stand

The battle has raged fiercely And the blood flows like rivers The crows will have their fill And all this is talked of is the end The stony hills are opening into graves As the darkness reveals its hand But the will is strong in the hearts Of those who survive to stand And the call of the redeemed Rings long and true over the land The warrior princess leads the call For she is the greatest fighter of them all And over the plainsland the beat of hooves Is heard by the men of the light And in a moment the hills are calling The arrival of the army of the king With a flash the ground is ablaze With the light of a thousand suns And over the rocks come the horses A sea of golden manes and spears And in that moment of joyous victory The warrior princess drops her weapons For there is no longer any need for them And she begins to call the praises of the king And the prairies join her in calling out his name
