The Last Time
The sister called me in to see my sweetheart one last time whilst far away I heard the ring - a distant church bell’s chime. I closed his silent staring eyes and kissed his lips still soft. At peace he sleeps forever on, his spirit borne aloft, leaving me behind alone, sorrow filled and ripped apart; how do I say goodbye, my love, with such a shattered heart? I just recently lost my beloved fiancee, whom I was to wed on 1 October, to heart failure, and I just want to share a little bit of my grief. I guess as time moves along I'll find my old poetic self again somewhere, but for now I'll keep it simple. Hugs, M
