THE LATE NIGHT DATE WRITE * The computer lover who guides her fingers When the long lonely night brings the pain that lingers She hears it hum as it starts to go as her fingers go flying to find her new beau * She reaches Nirvana when to her delight her wanted target is on line tonight Her heart skips a beat as she views his pic He looks like Tom Cruise if you squint a bit * Her mind it wanders to glance at her own The one that’s been Photo shopped at least twenty times She wonders if he ever met her for real would he find that her looks had lost their appeal * They amuse themselves Immensely when they start to type Their fingers stay flying till dawn brings the light But before departing they type "I love you" and agree to meet tomorrow at two * At the restaurant on the corner where the light is dim where small talk competes with theconstant din She waits for him with heavy heart and sweaty palms and she has to fart She arranges her clothing so he can’t see how her thighs rub together above her knees * She wore the dress that makes her look thin the black one natch, with the slimming hem She takes off her glasses and rubs her eyes at the red indentations from constant sties * She doesn’t see him and it’s half past two and there’s not a whole lot for her to do She waits for a while, but decides it’s in vain Maybe it’s for the better, she thinks again But as she passes the waitress station, she looks to the bar at some other patrons It’s a short balding man who might at one time resembled Tom Cruise and might have been fine. But the bloom of his youth has left its roost and his belly protrudes from the bottom of his shirt * She grabs her purse as she sneaks out the door backing up all the way so he won’t see her Once she gets back home, she changes her pic wondering who the hell would play such a dirty trick She realizes now, she has learned her lesson and what you see is not always what you get Just be truthful and you will find that beauty is all just a state of mind. * WordPlaya, March 1, 2010 ****************************************** Computers are stupid.
