The linger of memory

Perhaps my mind can ignite the inferno, To burn clear and signal the heavens That I am ready for divine intervention, For the angels to fly and sing for me Tunes of everlasting peace to come. Perhaps it is my own sadness That brings the gale to blow out the spark, Nightmares of being broken before Stay my hand from clasping in prayer With wishes for magical guidance. I too want to listen to the sun As it rises above the sea Singing the glory of creation, But overcast skies make dull the moment Shrouding my spirit with tones more bleak. So my fingers know only the strums of mourning, My voice only the hum of desolation, And though my eyes yearn to see the love in the warmth They only behold the blues of cold evenings Further casting a shadow in my mind already dark.
