The man and his hat
This is my first attempt at something like this. I don't know if it even counts as poetry... Let me know what you think. It's astory by the way... -Missy- Riddle me this, riddle me that This is the story of a man and his hat I'll tell it to you all in song From the moment things went terribly wrong Once upon a time there lived a young man Who loved to watch girls do the can-can He was not short, nor was he fat But he owned the most marvellous hat This hat, it was said, came from a land far away And cost him a million, or so they say He would wear it where ever he went Until one day the following message was sent: ' Dear Sir, Give us your hat! If you don't you will soon regret the fact. Leave it at the Cherry tree bar, on Friday the 7th of Mar. If you don't you may find, youself wishing you'd left it behind...' Now the poor man didn't know what to do If he didn't leave the hat he knew he'd be through But then he met a lady, so fine A witch, the greatest sorceress of her time They said her name was Giselde de Bale And this is her personal tale " I come from a land across the sea" " I will help you, if you will help me" Well the young man jumped at the chance How often do you meet such a lady in France? And believe me he didn't think twice Completely forgetting that her services came with a price He wanted to know what she could do She said, " Tell me your problem, andI will show you" "Well" she said " I know what must be done" "Give me your hat and we'll have some fun" She cast a few spells, muttering under her breath It was said that the spells would send the wearer to his death Having done this she told the man to leave his hat at the bar And then to stand back and watch from afar As he was watching someone came up and put the hat on All of a sudden the wearer burst into song " The hills are alive with the sound of music..." Well thewearer sang right through the night He even remained singing during a bar fight Well our young man was very impressed The lady had certainly performed at her best What about the price, you say Well that's a story for another day...
