THE OLD OAK

Towering over the old cottage rooftop in all its pride Stands the ancient majestic oak tree in all its splendour Over millennium its seen dwellings come and go Its always stood steady as it does still grow In its tall and drooping branches It has held tightly nests from countless of crow Children have climbed in their mischievous play As they still to this very day Storms or Gail force winds are unable to uproot nor snap its thick branches For its immense mass root system are its advantage As my mid-fifties in age has come around I love nothing more than sitting under this ancient majestic oak on the ground Contemplating over the millennium what it has seen If it could see what would it think about the humankind I believe that such majestic trees have a soul As an offspring of mother nature She looks after the ancient oak as it is her own Sitting in a daydreaming trance Suddenly I notice wildlife coming near to me Then it dawned upon me that I am not alone The majestic oak is feeding them acorns to give them food throughout the winter Am in love with this ancient majestic oak to its smallest splinter
