The Optimist's Reply

A cloudy day sometimes precludes a smile To warm and fill, a soothing mug of mead. Sometimes again an empty pot may feed Remembrances of stew it held awhile. A winter's snow disguises, just a style To give us all a chance to now be freed, A cleansing of the air,a morning creed, And moistens gardens, to beguile. The barking dog's a happy sound to hear To know our streets again are safe to walk. A playing group of children can't disturb Unless you chose a path you draw from fear. A gossip spreading rumors with her talk A worthless thing we shouldn't let perturb.
