The Orphan Boy
THE ORPHAN BOY A twinkling star a drop from the sky A small little boy lets out a big sigh His ragged trousers and jumper affray No one will kiss him at the end of the day A snowflake touches his nose, then a grin The warmth from his belly, the love from within No parents to speak off, a life without love As the lord came down and took them above Its Christmas time but no presents he’ll get Just a blanket an alleyway and vermin for a pet He lies down to sleep, a sniffle a sneeze Pull the blanket up high to keep from the breeze The snow comes down, an inch then a foot His blanket over his head the door has been shut Its Christmas time no presents are found As the little orphans asleep on the ground It’s Christmas day but where is the boy All other kids have picked there best toy The little orphan he won’t be found As a pure white blanket lay even on the ground On Christmas Eve he gave his last sigh Now the angels came down and took him up high To see his mum and dad, don’t think this is sad To the little orphan, it’s the best Christmas he has ever had
