The Other Half
Often the words we speak Tell half of what we mean Sometimes we remember Only half of what we've seen At times, I say, "I love you" That's only half of what I feel Being with you is deceptive Only half of it seems real Such as a dream, fading When I am only half awake I grasp for the whole But half is what I take Before you, I realize now, I was only half a man Before your soft words and strong advice I had only half a plan With these words, I express Only half of what's inside A torrent of pure emotion With half held back by pride Incomplete, the emptiness I felt Possessed of only half a soul But your love was what I sought The half to make me whole
