The Passing Light
It came and it went this passing light of hope I watched it go by and Dear God, I could've sworn I cried, memories flashed a record spun out of control and as I lay there on the ground the stars' radiance only seemed brighter. I thought Heaven had come down in a streaming flash of light, but my memories kept on spinning like a merry go round... strength left my body and I lay still like the dead, burning grass a hare watched cautiously as the passing light of hope came and went. As the last light fell I realized how quiet the world now seemed, and as my last breath died the record stopped and my last thought, where did it go? I just realized the world had come to an end, that light... I don't see it anymore.
