The People of the Stars

·Goat

The people of the stars, Embarrassingly oblivious, quaintly smiling as their fuel burns away. Fire away the miles that it takes for a single ray of starlight to reach your eye, the single speck left over as we're leaving ourselves again. There was a time I felt funny as I lied down to sleep. felt like zaps of electric past and firey wire that would be here soon. Dreaming of a black dog and ghosts waiting for me on some other side of the fence. No warning sign, just a single beam of light in darkness as I floated up and out toward an unknown destination. An urgent need to rush toward it, something familiar, like a piece lost long ago. Scents we knew when we were new, confounded by later on in life, yet at the same time, like an extension of ourselves, known all too well. Awake and aware but so very alone, not even a body now, to call my own. I worried that in that light I may die, that without a guide The blackness would override. The people of the stars, all shining in the sky. we are simply the ones who dared to fly.
