THE PERFECT BALANCE
THE PERFECT BALANCE * I watched her. Watched her as she tried so hard to attempt, a difficult overhead handspring on the balance beam. There I sat, biting my nails apprehensive as hell because if she failed she might loose her confidence or worse yet, become paralyzed for life like a vegetable as all those scenarios raged through my mind I watched as she powdered her hands in order to give herself the advantage of a Perfect grip So she wouldn't slip She flexed Taught and tense And when she knew she was ready She began I held my breath And clasped my hands And prayed And for a moment My entire world stood still As she tumbled above me End over end, As she landed with a thud In a perfect dismount A smile of contentment Crossed her mouth One unlike any She had ever possessed confident and knowing She had accomplished something She had been preparing for Most of her life And knowing herself That it had come out Just right And it was then I knew I was positive That it was worth the sacrifice Of knowing she might not be all right In order that I could let her fly! * WordPlaya, April 2009
