the perfect moment

The house was empty when we walked in the door The night was ours Talking and playing Rolling on the bed It was late in the night Yet early morning The sky was still dark The room was quite dim The only light was one lit candle It smelt of cinnamon and cranberry We laid on the bed in silence Under the covers we cuddled Stared into each others eyes for minutes on end Stroking each others faces He put my hair behind my ear Our minds were moving fast But time stood still The earth stopped spinning The clocks stopped ticking The candle stopped flickering My heart stopped beating And my body stopped breathing My eyes turned for a second As the word “babe” was said I responded by looking into his eyes Everything froze As the words “I Love you” came out of his mouth I smiled with a “I love you too” My eyes watered as he leaned in to kiss me The moment was too perfect It was meant to be
