The Perfect Shot
I am seeking assistance with the structure if possible and also to help it flow a little easier as I feel some of the words are clunking along and slowing the poem down. Maybe someone could suggest some synonyms for me? Here goes: A stinging bee- a butterfly’s flutter, I angle my body with trained precision. The sharpness of focus, the speed of the shutter, a visual record of fistic competition. Freezing endeavour, physical not cerebral, defending yourself is the art of the game, Hands flying, blood on the lens can be lethal, detained in its stillness – no motion of frame. Aperture: open and shut, punch delivered, ropes capture the shadow of an amateur’s mistakes. Like the graceful swallow, his feathers aquiver, ropes cushion the fall of his will as it breaks. Head to the canvas, he’s made it before, sharp blink of an eye and the image is whole, The count is dispensed, can’t be beat anymore. Captured. The precious, Red Indian soul.
