The ramblings of an aging man
As I walk along this concrete path 2 miles long, The aches and pains and pops and snaps increase, Adding to the music playing in my ears, making a new song. The sandy brown hair which once adorned, After turning gray and becoming scarce, Now has gone away, but is not mourned. Glasses have been replaced with contacts, Allowing me to see still far away, Replaced with new glasses, for shorter than arms length. Once happy, carefree thoughts that filled my mind, Now give way to fears and apprehensions, Realizing most of my years are now behind. Seeing the young, blissful and in love, Knowing this is the way things should be, Only serve to remind, that for me, one plus none has to be enough. So gaze at me, if you dare, For as I look at you, I can for a brief moment be reminded of my youth. While you, should you care, Can look ahead at what you will be, And the cycles repeat as time goes by.
