THE REIGN OF THE MOUNTAIN LION

THE REIGN OF THE MOUNTAIN LION On a mountain ridge, some time in 1878, the mountain lion scans his horizon for prey. As the sun sinks slowly inhis blue azure sky, he watches the hawks as they fly by. He sits with eyes sharp, as perched on his throne, for any sign of movement, but he notices none. His muscles flexed tight, he's ready to spring onany unfortunatecreature or thing. His eyes like a camera lens, totally focused, when a sound he hears faint, way off in the distance! Like hooves meeting ground, but louder threefold! The sound grows closer, a sight to behold! Could this be a buffalo herd, feast for his hunger, Oh no, it's not that, it's all joined together. It's fast and it's black, a giant behemoth! and as the big steam engine roars cross his path, the sound breaks the silence of his own wilderness, and everything he has ever known up to this point, he knows in his heart that his reign is now ending and the reign of man's carelessness,is just beginning.
