The reunion

Sugar sweet, the re-introductions. Mwa! Mwa! air kissing wrinkled cheeks. The early drinks relaxing tense tongues and shoulders, soothing and smoothing. General harmless anecdotes gently drift into more serious recollections, which in turn give way to sinister and dark memories. Middle drinks bring bawdy laughter and lost inhibitions, slack jaws gape and those tense tongues are now loose and flapping wildly, the old romances are flirted with, and envy's green haze descends over drunken eyes. Dancing and touching, now more tactile and confident than those lost teenagers from long long ago. Late drink turns green mist to red! Long forgotten wounds inflame. and erupt after festering for decades. In the drunken aftermath of accusation and recrimination, the evening fades and ends in a sad shamble to the the exit. School's out for Autumn! Everyone sure that thirty years time would be too soon to meet up again.
