The Rider on a White Horse

“Into the mist I sit and stare.” he said. “The day is long and chill.” “My thoughts”, he said, “to you I bare.” “Now years ago, I remember still the sights I now reveal to you, events amazing, I do recall, sights portentous for life anew sights to amaze the eyes of all.” “I watched and prayed and then I saw a horse as white as snow. I saw his rider and I knelt in awe; With robes of linen dipped in blood - though gripped with fear I watched and felt His blazing eyes, his many crowns And massive dread to me was dealt - A heavenly army with almighty sounds.” “The rider’s mouth a sword so keen, for nations a fury of wrath to fuel in anger and rage for sins obscene. And a sceptre of iron for him to rule. On his side was written his name ‘King of Kings and Lord of Lords’.... Our Lord indeed, he’s just the same With angels he came and heavenly hoards.” With what’s to be I rejoice indeed His Spirit is with us, gives strength to grow I pray for life renewed, it is our need.......” He came to set us free, this I know, And free I am, for His presence is here Our sins he’s taken: us forgiven Now this I see as clear as clear Life eternal to us is given.” It started to snow and frost bit chill The light was fading; my fingers they numbed A long road to go, no time to kill And yet to him I had succumbed The old man I left, pondering anew What was it he meant, this prophet of old? Who is this king? What was it he knew? The road is long and my horse is cold.

Love creativity - especially writing - poems especially. Love my wife, cats, our church, reading, warm weather (so rare here!) and snow - quite common these days - even in spring....
