The Right Words

·TheNightShift

I tried to find the right words But there were no right words To tell the one who loved me still That tomorrow her life would change That I will no longer be at her side That she will awaken and turn to me With eyes still full of sleep and love And reach out her arms to embrace But hold nothing but emptiness As she gazes at my lonely pillow As the teardrops begin to form As she weeps and wonders why As she remembers the moment I tried to find the right words But there were no right words To tell the one who loved me still That she’ll be waiting for the sound Of my door key turning in the lock Telling her that I’m home from work But will hear only a taunting clock Ticking away each lonely second That she will turn to my armchair With a smile and a joke on her lips Only to remember that I have gone That she will no more hear my voice Telling her that things will be okay That it will all work out just fine Because it did not work out fine So I had to tell her it was all over I tried to find the right words But there were no right words
