The Road to Damascus
On the road to Damascus I found my fate, A message from God that took my sight, “Why are you persecuting me?” Blinded and wary I continued my path, A broken man, I was a man of the Church, Following Jehovah’s word, The laws of Moses, David, and Abraham. Rules set out by man. Why did I deserve this? At Damascus, a revelation, a miracle. My sight was restored, But more – my Soul was saved. I stepped out of the world of man And into the world of Christ, I endured Stonings, Beatings, Arrests. I’ve fled for my life more than once. But through all this He’s been by my side. For the first time in my life I had power, Real Power. And influence. I met and touched so many lives, I’ve changed the world by listening to God And ignoring the ravings of men. But man is all-powerful in his world, And some can’t handle the truth, Can’t stand to be challenged. And so I sit here on my death sentence Thinking of that dusty road to Damascus, How hard it has been to walk that path, And why I’d walk it a thousand times over.
