The Sacrifice
In a hot summer night Tiny water-spirits make their Journey upwards. Today is the day of their sacrifice, But a sacrifice that surpasses the Pain of death, for they know Through their death, the world will be cleansed. Upwards they gather together For their final trial. The Sun has long gone, Too afraid to witness this genocide. Like a caped crusader, They cried with freedom When He guided the first flash of light To strike the thirsty earth, In tremendous response They began their descent Into the solid earth, Fast and furious With no regrets Upon impact, they bask in joy For they knew freedom From the cycle of birth and death And eternal release of their soul. But one of them, landed in the palm Of a small boy and merging with his tears, It finally found peace. My first attempt at abstract poetry.
