The Sands of the Marina
The Waves of the Marina rise and fall As the Evening shadows grow tall The ornate Simpson's clock ticks on Keeping a tab on eras bygone Sparks fly above heated kernels of corn As songs play on a radio programme Wisping by the cool sea breeze As the streetlights switch on Boats return from the sea, As the day breathes more easily Yet the majestic expanse of sand Expresses that this is the world's second longest beach Vehicles start hovering around As evening walkers cover their ground There is a dignified ease and grace As the city rests in the moon's embrace To those enamoured by the Copacabana And its bright colours, salsa and razmatazz The simple, elegant answer of the Marina Is a classy evening waltz
