The Sinew of Hope

The Sinew of Hope minutes as tough as overcooked steak You’re heavy you’re burrowed under my skin Roaring winds can’t blow you away hiding like a child I can’t out walk you waiting ‘til it’s safe Can’t shake you loose so close Can’t wait yet I can’t touch you ‘Til you grow see you or hear your voice More lonely than afraid don’t want anyone else No music’s loud enough concentrating so hard To deafen my thoughts your ears must be buzzing To quiet the waiting my hope’s so relentless With all my experience wish I could squash it Of breaking and broken hearts like a bug I’m not getting better hope is a sinew At weathering these stringing me to Fantasies fantasies that can’t find That can’t find forms physical form To inhabit it’s a habit I just can’t break I can’t break The sinew of hope (The form is a double-helix--read just the plain text and then just the italicized; it's a duet for 2 voices, one conversational, the other soft, representing the level of consciousness just under the speaking, thinking level and bringing forth the images.)
