the somber sun breaks effortlessly, sluggishly over rugged escarpments witnessed from dusty porches and rustic platos snaked footpaths through mountain hearts bleeds like caustic veins as a reminder of days of glory when fortunes found and lost the cursed gold rush platos pregnated with well-baked rocks mapped with uneven cracks of resilience to elemental love songs creaking sounds from a childless swing pierce into choking breeze controlled by the crisp morning winds winds of change now paired with memories of seasons passed, framed in iron cast casting shadows in my minds eye, dressed in black half-shaped figure in black haunts my days….
