Thenceforth,Ileftfortheveiledquarry, Tounveiltheone,whosang,’thesongofprairies’ Flounceditflouncedbackandforth, Stallionofauburnvisage Asitsteeredclearofmyobtusetrials Mystealthyadvancesonlyworseneditsrage Itooko’eritsreinsinsuddenparry Itooko’eritsreinsfor,’thesongofprairies’ ButoffIwasjolted,whenitflinchedandran Onthetallgrassesinvastterrain Andsmirkedtheglazingstarsofastraleyes Towitnessmyattemptsinvain; Hear,Ohear!Scarletblooms,adulatedbyallfairies Hear,Ohear!thescarletbloomsthesongofprairies AsIresumedtomysiesta Onthebedofgrassessilken Whenadvancedtheetherealbillows Andevadedthemirthofradiantsun Aytranscendsitthegoldennotesmerry? Aytranscendsit‘thesongofprairies’ Theeddiesswirledacrossthewindmills Alongtheboundlessterrain Throughthesparklinggoldenrodsthatwaved, Whenitleftforthedistantlane Otheexuberantbreezeofsouth!Hearkentomyqueries Otheexuberantbreezeofsouth,haveyeheard,‘thesongofprairies’?
