The Sonnet
My translation of the song by Vladimir Lantsberg, a Russian bard. I never drink from shady streams So, lying on the hills, calm down your breath Forget all your uncertainty and weakness Dissolve your doubts in this ephemeral peace The strokes of years, remaining everywhere... How many paths, my friend, we trod together! Who knows the land to which we both will carry This web of roads on our stiff faces? But you may leave your fear – here is my hand Extended through the times to help you stand October 2013 ________________________________________ Here is the record of the original version: https://soundcloud.com/galina-italyanskaya/sonnet . Also I've recorded the English version. Don't laugh at me, please, because it's my first experience, I never sang in English before (except "Yesterday", which we learned at school). https://soundcloud.com/galina-italyanskaya/the-sonnet .
