May Tender sea-green snake- smooth tendrils - questing. Searching upward from their sowing, Break the earth; rejoice in rain. Yearning for that brighter sky. Glory in the sun - Start growing. June 'Neath the forming flowers -Creatures; Sheltering from the piercing rays. Sunflowers stand - leaves outspread; Tall defenders of the weaker, Close helmed in green - With hidden features. July Sun-glazed, dazed, amazed we wander, Through this Sunflower glory, brazen gold. Turbaned helmets, split asunder; Turned to face their living God.. Heads held high. Their crowns unfold. August Dazzled by a tyrant Sun, they upward Gaze. The Sun, disdainful of their splendor Worshiping his blazing face - Flames their crowns with fiery rays. And bends their heads, In meek surrender.
