The True Physician
The True Physician In forty years I've seen My share of doctors. Proud folks they are, and Some of them Quite rightly so. And they are dedicated, but To what mission? Patient care Figures in there Somewhere. Today I saw a A truly dedicated physician; Who, deeply dedicated to his mission, Labored in obscurity and, Unaware of this observer Gave me a rare view Of true devotion to Health care. An inmate-janitor, Vigorously washing the inside of a Prison staff restroom door Attended closely to Every detail of his humble task. “I wash this good, so People don't get sick,” He said with a smile. A proud (And truth to tell, arrogant) Physician myself, I was startled, and then Humbled by This prison-janitor's Total dedication to Our Mission: Better health for all. Al French MD
