The Wedding Day
Come hear the wedding bells this afternoon Come honored guests and make your way inside When violins play Pachelbel in June An anxious groom awaits his nervous bride In adoration both their gazes meet Converging past the point of no return The witnesses are standing on their feet The family members’ eyes begin to burn The beatings of their hearts accelerate The wellspring of his love displayed in white Before the Lord their vows are given weight Yet borne as one to make their burden light Oh let this day endure for years to come, And children soon expand the household name May they know wealth beyond a dollar sum And never hold to past mistakes or blame And may they see those anniversaries Of twenty, forty, fifty years to date To fill a lifetime full of memories And freely share the stories they create
