Then you built a gate
I built a wall so very very tall And plastered it piece by piece This wall it was my comfort This wall it kept me safe. I hid behind it's greatness And then you built a gate. This gate I grew accustomed to This gate connected me and you. It opened up my boundaries And for a while I was at ease. But this gate it needed lacquer A rub down here and there. It faded in it's splendor Because you were never there. My wall it is now broken Split open by a gate. A gaping hole as big as day So I hurry now for bricks and clay.
