These gifts

These gifts that lie before me, ‘Sent with love and care’, are keep sakes Sent instead of love and care. They fail to fill the gap within Where love and cares themselves belong. They hold great worth, as the bills claim, But love needs not such gifts and trinkets. These gift that lie before me Fail to fill the gap within my aching, aching heart.
